A Little About Us
The Portuguese Social Club of Pawtucket was founded in 1918 by a group of Portuguese immigrants who wanted a place where they could come together and celebrate Portuguese culture. The original Club continued to be a place for like-minded individuals to gather until a fire which led to the club being moved to its current location.
Currently, the Club has expanded to include a larger banquet hall, bar, restaurant, and a member's area. The member's area encompasses a Portuguese school, where children can learn to read and write in Portuguese and about Portuguese culture. The restaurant is available to both members and non-members where you can get a delicious mix of Portuguese cuisine. The Club has an associated folkloric dance group, called Rancho of the Portuguese Social Club, which is mainly comprised of students from the Portuguese school and just recently celebrated its 30th anniversary.
The Portuguese Social Club has continued to expand providing the Portuguese community with an annual festival in August and a variety of dinners and events throughout the year which can be seen on the bookings tab. We have truly become an iconic symbol in Pawtucket community. In 2018, on our centennial anniversary, a portion of school street was renamed to "Portuguese Social Club Way" by the city of Pawtucket.
We continually strive to provide our community, both Portugues and non-Portuguese, with a location suitable for a variety of events and celebrations both large and small.
